Description

*based off my prelim*[link]

**--Also--Cap's shield is not as *perfectly circular* as it should be. My MOTHAF*CKIN compass broke as I was inking my original *perfectly penciled circle*. Don't bother me about it, cuz it bothers me enough--Damn-stupid-ass Compass!**

Anyway, my good friend hit me back with a Hi-Res scan this morning.

I got quite a bit to say about this, so for those who care--read on. Otherwise, enjoy the piece.

---notes---
So, this was actually a BITCH and a HALF to do. "Why?" Because I am the most anal person I know when it comes to my own artwork. You can see from my prelim that I went in a completely different direction. THe compostion is the only thing that is a bit similar, but still, not so much. People often ask me--"What's the hardest part for you?"--to which I often answer--"When I can't see it." The moment I can see the composition PERFECTLY, is when things are EASY as hell. That happens.......like........2 outta 10 times^^;

Tranversely, about 2 outta 10 times, every composition I initially start with just doesn't work, and I end up having to keep re-working my idea.

For this piece (a commission by the way), the characters kept rotating. THe only constant was that Wolverine was always in the front and Cap was always at the top. Other then that---nothing was working to my vision. So in between all my other work/commissions/sequentials, etc., I spent about a day figuring out what the F*ckin' problem was.

The next day----God showed me mercy, because it was all of a sudden, a piece of cake

:confused:Go figure:shrug:0_o

Once that was done, I did the tight finished pencils that same day. I was gonna leave it like that. But then I was thinking about my "Bat Family"[link]

and I thought---"I haven't done anything inked like that in a while." So I put it away for the day, and went to work on other things.

The next day, I inked this bad boy.

So, once everything was said and done, I probably spent more time planning it than actually DOING it.

Ah well---anyway:
I'm really proud of this. I've been trying to up my inking skills and think this beats "Bat Family" in technique and skill.

The image has plenty of firsts. With the exception of Wolverine, I've never done a fully rendered version of ANY of these characters. I think I did a rough sketch of Cap and Spidey, like, twice in my entire life---and I've NEVER sketched the others. So I think for a first time drawing, they came out pretty darn good.

Roster(from bottom-to top)
Wolverine---Originally put in his usual generic, constipated, claws out pose---but thankfully, I decided that Wolverine could just stand there smoking and STILL look badass.

Luke Cage---He was crazy fun--because he's friggin' cocka-deez-a-deez!(that means really bug and brawny for those who missed that;P) I almost never get to draw dudes with serious BODY BUILDER-esque bodies, so that was a nice transition.

Echo(a.k.a.Ronin)---understanding her outfit was the hard part. Other then that, she was awesome. (And I almost didn't even include her^^;)

Spider-Woman---very proud of her because Jessica Drew is ALL ABOUT THE FATTY. Brian Michael Bendis(New Avengers Writer) scripted her that way, as it's a play on her having the "physique of a Spider"--meaning, a big butt. So her breasts are firm, but not large or overflowing. She's all about the behind. (Shout out to David Finch(comic artist) for understanding this:thumbsup:

Iron Man---It was a bitch trying to find a really good /consistent picture of his armor. Every artists adds their own spin, so it never *really* looks the same in different books. So I just picked an artist I liked and worked off his armor style. The helmet is a cross between Finch and Mckniven, as well as MY own spin;P. The *Platinum Shiny-Look* is something Finch does when he draws Iron Man. Even BEFORE I saw him do it, I wondered why no one ever really drew him that way. Seems like commen sense to me:shrug:

Captain America--he was the easiest part of this whole process. The reflective/shiny sheild look is something that Bryan Hitch(comic artist) uses and I not only like it, I agree with his choice of using it---it makes sense. (again, the circle is a tad off---shut-up about it:bleh:)

Spider-Man---Had him doing all kinds of sick acrobatics at first---but then---I realized his "overlydramatic actions" were TOO in contrast to everyone else. Everyone's pose is, for the most part, iconic and derivitive of their character traits. So I thought--"What's the most iconic look for Spidey?" What you see is my Final Answer:nod:
***---pssst----ten bucks to anyone who can figure out what his web is attached to:giggle:***

Sentry---Marvel's Superman. He was easy too. I kept him slighty in the back because as a character, he tends to distance himself from the others personally. He doesn't argue and he doesn't overtly show or fully use his AWESOME power. So I had him looking poised and strong, yet seemingly docile at the same time.

Wasn't planning on a background, but I added it last minute when I inked it. I'm proud of the way the Sentry's Tower came out, too.

Okay, thanks to anyone who bothered reading this commentary. Sorry if it bored you, but I had a lot to say about this;P

Any of my colorist friends wanna give this a go, just gimme the credit for the lines and its YOURS for the coloring---Enjoy:nod::peace:
