and now, because why not------> here's a bio:

--~~ In hopes of giving their daughter a bright future, Franco Rivera, his mother Dia Rivera and his pregnant wife, Ofelia, emigrated to America.  After eighteen grueling hours of labor, their daughter, Christina Dia Rivera entered the world.  Tragically, Christina was stillborn.  Franco's mother, who was Ofelia's nursemaid, took the child in her arms, put her lips to the child mouth and breathed a single large breath into Christina's tiny lungs.  Moments later, infant cried with vitality, as Ofelia smiles tearfully at her daughter....then, she lets out a final sigh of relief, never to breathe again.

Franco raised his daughter diligently, stressing the importance of a solid education.  Though a single parent, he was aided every step of the way by his mother.  Both father and grandmother were integral in shaping Christina's life.  Though her father was strict and authoritative, Christina knew he meant well.  Her grandmother was far more lenient, and would often read fantasies and fairy tales to her, giving Christina a very active imagination and a carefree attitude that complemented her intellect.  Christina excelled in her studies, graduated high school as valedictorian, and earned herself a full academic scholarship to Harvard University.

So one could imagine the devastation that tore Franco and Dia apart when Christina, six days after her 18th birthday, was killed in a massive car collision.

...yet this was not the end.....

Christina awoke beside her grave, as though she had been sleeping there.  Seeing her name on the tombstone filled her with terror.  That fear reached its apex once she was greeted by a Grim Reaper of towering height.  It stated that she had been buried for exactly 6 years, and that "her time had come."  Sorrow melted away, torn asunder by Christina's rage.  She refuses to accept her death.  Forcefully, she  fought to escape the Reaper, fearing it would drag her into the afterlife.  Before freedom was hers, however, a dog-like demon erupted from the earth beneath her.  With a strident bellow, the demon summoned a horde of giant demonic pitbulls.  Snarling, they charged at Christina, eager to devour her.  To the young woman's awe, the Reaper put itself in front of Christina, and obliterated the monstrous creatures.  The demon fell to one knee, and before the Reaper could deliver the killing blow, it vanished in a cloud of red smoke.

The threat ended, The Reaper approached a shell-shocked Christina.  It explained that it was not here to escort her to the afterlife.  It was, in fact, brought forth to SAVE her.  It continued, stating that the women of her mother's bloodline are cursed.  Upon death, their souls are pulled into Hell by the demonic agents of El Perro de Diablo (The Devil Dog)  This is what became of her mother's soul, and was the fate that should have come to pass for Christina.  Instead, and unknown entity ordered the Grim Reaper to save Christina.  She was to be the ward of Death itself!

Christina was not satisfied.  She did not want to simply hide out.  She wanted answers.  She wanted to fight.  Learning that her mother, whom she never got to know, was cursed to die, and was burning in Hell ripped her heart in two.  Addled by fury, Christina demanded The Grim Reaper not only keep her safe--it train her to fight.

The Reaper neither took kindly to demands nor bargains--it had heard it all before.  Nevertheless, the mysterious force that compelled it to aid Christina coerced it to abide by her requests.  It COULD NOT resist her wishes.  This---it found, was most displeasing.  Reluctantly, it agreed, but not before issuing one chilling warning.

The only way for Christina to accept the Reaper's guidance was to form  "The Covenant of Tribune."  She would be its avatar, reaping the souls of the recently deceased.  Transferring their souls to the afterlife would feed her "Reaper's Essence," strengthening her bond with the Specter and granting her greater control over her new powers.  This was a heavy tax, and it was only the beginning.  Becoming an avatar of The Grim Reaper would instantly alert the afterlife of Christina's presence.  She'd essentially become a beacon for all spiritual beings, be they holistically benign or horrifically malevolent.  Like moths to a flame, she would unwittingly pull them towards her.  More importantly, having escaped Perro de Diablo, she would now have a massive target on her back.

Even with this fearful information, Christina's decision was unchanged.  She had to know the truth and was willing to spend the rest of her after life seeking it.   She agreed to become Death's avatar----swearing to reap the souls it deemed necessary.  In return, it would teach her its gifts, enabling her to defend her living family, free her mother's soul, and destroy Perro de Diablo's curse forevermore.

~~POWERS~~

Removing its right hand and crushing it, The Reaper sprinkled the pulverized remains into Christina's soul.  This imbued her with "Aspecto del Fuego" (aspect of fire)--making her "The Right Hand of Death." Through The Reaper's tutelage, Christina learned several abilities:

Her default form is corporeal, but she can never change her appearance or attire.  She can take spirit form and pass through solid objects, or enter people's minds to learn their thoughts.  Her most powerful ability is to conjure her spiritual ether, using it to create and manipulate the mystical element soul fire.  This powerful fire is her primary weapon against the dark

Readopting her trademark spunk and sense of humor, she now jokingly refers to herself as---

~~SPIRITINA~~
